Indigenous Plants

People call indigenous plants weeds.
I'm sure, were indigenous plants able to talk, they would consider it a racial slur.

Indigenous Plants some might call "Weeds"

Buttercups and daisys, forgetmenots and clover are very pretty flowers whose beauty is wasted when we cut then down with a lawn mower. You may or may not view the thistle as an attractive plant, but it will attract Goldfinches into your garden and I would argue that the thistle is a beautifully shaped and robust plant with great colour when in flower... And how about brambles? Well, actually they are genus Rubus, the rose family, and their fruit include blackberries and raspberries. So when we hack them down, we are actually depriving ourselves of very tasty, nutritional pies and crumbles, but what is better is that they would be free. Also, they offer safe refuge to many birds and small mammals not to mention a favourite for bees, so critical to the natural ecology of the garden. And what about the Foxglove? It's an indigenous plant, but is it to be considered "weed" or garden flower? I could go on and on and on... but I think you get my point.
